Ruskington top Recycle plant pot plan!

Ruskington and Belton Garden centres are proving their "green" idea of recycling plastic plant pots is paying off after delivering their 6th lorry load of the plastic perils to a recycling company.

Partner in the garden centre, Graham Elkington reckoned they had now sent over quarter of a million plant pots off to be made into various items freeing up space in gardens sheds across the county without the plastic going into Lincolnshire landfill sites.

"We were amazed that soon after we put up the first collection point for old plant pots, it was filled within days! We had to make a bigger receptacle. That too was soon filled. I think its great that not only are we doing a service for the gardener, all of us are helping the environment by disposing of the plant pots this way." Said Graham.

Such has been the success of the Ruskington project, the Belton Garden centre, also owned by the Elkington family was soon to follow suit and to date, the pair of garden centres have disposed of around 2 tons of plastic.
